Artist Statement

My influences are nature and architecture. I literally translate and intergrate various natural stone, fossils, and architectural elements into predominantly sterling jewlery.

My most recent works begin with stones and/or fossils. The object found in nature provides the patern or feel that is then carried into he piece itself. The actual form of the piece is determined by creating a two-dimensional drawing or constructing a three-dimensional paper model.

Appropriate base shapes are cut and formed from plain metal sheet. Sterling and other metal components of sheet, wire, and tubing are etched, cut, cut shaped, pressed or soldered onto base shape. the texture and dimension are freqently emphasized with the adition of a patina. The end becomes unique small-scale wearable sculpture.
