Artist Statement

I am a fine artist working in printmaking, drawing, and painting. I create my work in my home studio in Delaware. For the past 3 years I have been teaching fine art as a private instructor, as well as courses in printmaking, drawing and painting at the University of Delaware, Wesley College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. My printmaking disciplines include non-toxic methods such as polyester plate lithography, solar plate etchings and aquatints, drypoint, and serigraphy using water soluble inks. I use water mixable oil paint, acrylic and water colors in my paintings, and I draw with archival inks, graphite and metal point. I enjoy the combination of these three closely related processes and often blur the boundaries among them. My images are reflections of my experiences, but they are not strict representations. There is truth in all of my work, but that truth may only exist in the energy spent on their creation, and not always in the figures they depict.
