Artist Statement
I have always loved bold bright color. My paintings are always filled with it. In jewelery, I love gemstones, not for their worth but for the beautiful color. Color is one of God's greatest gifts.
About the Artist
When I retired in 1994, I decided there were two things I wanted to do – paint and make a porcelain antique doll. I made many dolls and taught dollmaking, but there comes a time to move on.
A few years ago I attended the Tucson gem show. It was like being in a candy store at Christmas. I really could not justify buying very much because I did not need it. The next year, I bought a lot. What to do with them? I decided to put the gemstones together and sell them. I also taught some people who were also interested in jewelry. It has been a lot of fun and joy. I use semi-precious gemstones, fresh water pearls, precious metal silver, sterling and other metals. I take classes, study and research trying to grow in my craft and am always willing to share my information with others.
