Artist Statement

I am living the dream - an artist, teacher, and showing my work in my studio art gallery in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

I am a colorist. Nothing is more exciting to me than seeing beautiful colors together. I enjoy taking chances and finding out what is really possible. Lately, I have been trying to be well intended before beginning each painting and then, just let go and see where it wants to go! I just listen and respond during the process!

My work continues to grow and expand with many favorite subjects. I love painting en plein air where direct observation is paramount and invention is thrilling! Surface complexity, texture, and depth are often what I seek although sometimes simple brushwork is just as beautiful. Working in the studio allows greater color and surface exploration sometimes using many layers of color and collage.

I began my art career early by competing in local poster and boardwalk art shows. I received a B.A. from Chestnut Hill College and teacher certification form Kutztown University. I am a signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and continue to participation in many solo and group exhibitions. I love teaching and consider myself both an artist and teacher. I include my love of travel and teaching by conducting workshops in France, Italy, Ireland, England, and Switzerland and my studio in Bethany.
