Artist Statement

Back in 1992, I was diagnosed with a very serious illness and while I was in treatments, a friend suggested that I find a hobby to get my mind off the illness. She taught me how to make handmade, custom cards. That was just the beginning! From there, I took a few painting classes, read a few books, and took a few more classes. After that I found my niche in taking used cigar boxes and turning them into themed, decorative, usable boxes. I became known as the "box lady." My latest passion is making junk journals and doing collage art, and yes, I still make cigar boxes! Art is my Happy Place.
